Motorsport South Africa Academy ready to continue growing our future World Champions

2017 was the first year of the Academy class and its concept in South Africa. This class already produced a winner, a mere 8 months since inception, in the form of a 12 year old that went along to win the 2017 JNR Max African Open title.

Another academy driver made a big impact just this past weekend in the 1st round of the Northern regions in a competing JNR 125cc class at Zwartkops by winning the day, his 1st time in the class.

It’s clear that the CIK knew what this class would mean when introducing it onto the international scene and thankfully our Own ASN decided to allow this talent-development factory an opportunity in South Africa.

No other class currently can develop drivers for the future like the MSA Academy. The key is to teach the drivers not to become reliant on engine power and carburation. The driver and the Setup is the only areas where possible gains can be made.

2018 promises to be another successful year for the Academy with most of SA’s youngest and most promising talent already signed up.

The same concept will apply for 2018:

  • Motors are issued by Ballot on the Friday of the race weekend
  • 1 Set of Race tyres is allowed
  • 1 Set of New Practice tyres is allowed on Friday
  • Motors are sealed units and are issued and maintained by the organizers
  • Competing in 5 Rounds secures your Wild Card seat at the 2018 International ROK Finals.

Costs:

  • Rental package:
    • R6900,00 per event
      • This includes the following:
      • Motor Rental – Complete unit – Motor, Exhaust, Carb, Air box.
      • Motor Rental includes Friday 5 Sessions & Saturday race day.
      • 1 Set Bridgestone YLR Race tyres

The Racing will kick off on 10 March at the Vereeniging Kart circuit together with the rest of the ROK classes as well as the well supported GP 125 Shifter regional class.

Due to overlapping of the championships and event dates, two of the Northern Regions events form part of the ROK Cup SA Championship, and 4 events part of the Northern Regions events MSA Academy trophy. Taking part in 9 events gives the drivers an opportunity to take part and place in 3 championships. That is 3 championship opportunities in one season.
